Pregnancy and Neonatal Loss
A Little About My History
Before my daughter Juliana was born, I suffered two pregnancy losses. My first loss was an ectopic pregnancy in January of 2001. I lost my baby, and my left fallopian tube was removed as well. I was unsure if I would ever be able to have another baby.
I got pregnant again in March of 2001. After many blood tests and sonograms, I was thrilled to find out that this was a uterine pregnancy! But by early May, I was devastated to learn that my baby’s heart stopped, and I miscarried. As I did after my ectopic loss, I became very depressed and upset. Everything I did reminded me of wanting to be pregnant again, and wanting a healthy baby. I was in an unhealthy place, for I couldn’t function in my everyday life without crying over my babies. I prayed and prayed, and then left it in God’s hands. I found out in August of 2001 that I was again pregnant. Although I was scared of another loss, I got through my pregnancy day by day.
Juliana Rose was born on March 20, 2002. She is the light of my life. I later went on to divorce, remarry, and was blessed with three more children, my sons: Louis, Anthony and Joseph. They are my miracles and I thank God every day for the chance to be mom to these four beauties.
My experience has led me in a direction in my life I would have never expected. I completed my Masters in Counseling with an advanced certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) to counsel couples and families dealing with pregnancy loss, neonatal death, and infertility. I have written a book Becoming a Mother, which I am happy to say I have just published. It is available by e-book and in print.

I have six biological children. God has blessed me with my four earth angels. They also have a brother and sister in heaven, Nicholas and Daniela. My angel babies have been an inspiration for me to help those who are suffering from these losses and to help raise Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness.
This section is in memory of my two Angel Babies, Nicholas and Daniela.

After I entered my babies’ names in the Book of Life, I needed to go down into the city and see the shrine. I went with a friend of mine who also suffered losses, and we not only were able to see the church and the shrine, but the sister opened up the book for us to view our babies’ names! The church was a beautiful old church, and I was very moved and impressed with the Shrine. If you are ever in the NYC area, please try to visit. You can enter your baby’s names in the Book of Life at http://www.innocents.com/bookoflife.html

Ideas to Memorialize Your Angel Babies |
|
I keep a box in my closet with any memories I have of my angel babies. This includes sonogram pictures, pregnancy tests (yes, I do still have them), poems and journal entries, books I read that comforted me, the babies’ certificates from The Shrine of the Holy Innocents, records and forms from my hospital stays, and mementos I got from Morning Light Ministryand Elizabeth Ministry. |
